Volunteering

As with all non-profit organizations, we rely heavily on our wonderful volunteers. There are many ways to help, each with a different level of involvement/time commitment. Below are some of the jobs we regularly need filled, many of which take place at our events.

For those with a more limited time commitment:

  • Setting up the dressage arena

  • Setting up obstacles for the ease of handling and speed phases

  • Resetting obstacles for the next rider
  • Time keeper for the speed phase

  • Score running – taking scoring sheets from judge to recorder

  • Breaking down and putting away dressage arena and obstacles

For those with a bit more time to spare:

  • Scribing – acting as official record-keeper who sits with the judge to write down scores and exact comments during a test

  • Gate steward – managing, directing and maintaining order at an arena entrance during the competition
  • Announcer – official voice who handles music, manages the event schedule and communicates the judge’s instructions

  • Being on the board or serving on a committee

  • Building and/or painting obstacles
